FAQ

How long will construction last?

We currently expect the renovation of the Jim Miller facility to be completed by December 2025.

Will construction of the new facility affect DWU water quality?

No. Work on the pump station will not impact water quality, availability or pressure to residents in the surrounding neighborhoods and area. Dallas Water Utilities distribution system will be rerouted to help ensure consistent water delivery to all customers while the Jim Miller facility is under renovation.

Will Everglade Park remain open during this project?

Yes. A small area at the north end of the park will be fenced off during construction, but all of the park amenities will remain in service during the project.

Will we experience any service disruptions during construction?

Water service disruption is not anticipated during construction improvements at Jim Miller Pump Station. If there is a need to disrupt water service, prior to service interruption, impacted customers will be notified with door hangers and information will be posted on the project website at Project Updates, as well as on the project’s Facebook and Twitter channels.

How much neighborhood disruption do you anticipate?

Because this is a renovation and not a full reconstruction, we are expecting limited impact on daily activities. However, construction will have a mild impact on the availability of a portion of Everglade Park. There will be deliveries of supplies and contractors coming and going from the site. With these and other activities, there may be some noise and occasional traffic delays. These events will generally occur during the day, with work times governed by rules that all contractors must obey.

Will we be able to use sidewalks on Jim Miller Road?

The sidewalk on the east side of Jim Miller Road may periodically be closed between Showbend Lane and the entrance to the Everglade Park parking lot next to the baseball field.

Will this project affect traffic on Jim Miller Road or any other neighborhood streets?

While we do not expect this project to require many road closures, there may be occasions when the amount or nature of supplies being delivered may require one or more lane closures on the northbound side of Jim Miller Road and in front of the Jim Miller Pump Station site. While expected to be limited in number and duration, any closures will be announced in advance via the project’s Facebook page and Twitter feed as well as on the Project Updates page on this website.

Will I see an increase in my water bill because of this project?

Water rates are used to fund future projects. This project was funded by previously established water rates.

Where can I find updates about the project?

We will post regular updates and announcements on the Project Updates page and our social media channels. Find us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter.
